Mosaic Project

This quick and easy project was designed with beginners and children under adult supervision in mind. This mosaic can be completed in just a few short hours and be ready to display in as little as a day. Add a decorative frame or molding when the project is complete and it makes the perfect gift. Below are the details of how this project was made. Change the size to create your own work of art.

• Prepare the surface that you intend to mosaic on. Cut the material to the size and shape that you would like your finished piece to be. Remove all loose materials. If you are using transparent or semi-transparent glass, you might want to paint the surface white to enhance the color of the glass.
• Draw your pattern on the surface where the glass will be placed. This will make the assembly process quicker.
• Glue the glass tiles into place. Weldbond glue is highly recommended for use on glass mosaics.  It dries clear and hard. It takes about 1 hour for the glue to dry and cures in 24 hours. No Days Mosaic Adhesive is a new product that also dries clear and provides a very strong bond. It comes as an 8 ½” X 11” sheet and is applied by using a heat gun. The glue hardens in minutes and is ready to grout 5 minutes after heating.
• Use masking tape to cover the mirror to prevent scratches.
• Mix and apply grout according to the manufacturer’s directions.
• Finish the edges with trim and hang.
